Abstract:
With the massive improvement of information technology including
data collection techniques, networking, data storage, data pre-processing, and
data analysis and visualisation huge amount of data is being collected every
day. It was reported that about 90% of the world’s current data were collected
in the last two years. Collected data are being analysed for knowledge
discovery, making sense of data, decision making and future prediction. In this
talk we will briefly introduce our research interest on a wide range of data
mining techniques including data pre-processing, missing value imputation,
corrupt data detection, clustering, decision trees and decision forests,
privacy preserving data mining and publishing, and some real life applications
of data mining. We will focus on decision tree and forest algorithms and discuss
some future research directions on these topics.
